Ethical Dilemma 



Today I read about ethical dilemma and what it is, so I thought it would be helpful if I share it with you here

What is Ethical dilemma?

An ethical dilemma occurs when two or more specific ethical ideals are at odds and you must make a decision, founded on your logical assessment, about which ethical ideal is more important. Ethical dilemmas allow you to investigate ethical questions from an analytical point of view and make a final determination for yourself. In this paper I will talk about one example of an ethical dilemma.

         The Description of the My Ethical Dilemma

When I was in grade 11 I was one of the smartest students in math I was an extremely bright student capable of achieving excellent grades without cheating. On the other hand, I was not that much in English. There was the daughter of our English teacher who studies with us, and she was not good in math. I am a naturally empathetic person and pride myself on my loyalty to friends. I have made some great sacrifices on behalf of those close to me and initially wanted to keep this particular issue between me and my friend.  But when her mother asked me before the final exam to let her daughter cheat from me in the math exam and she will make me pass in the English exam which I really need to pass it.
In this situation, I had two choices which have bad sequence. Either to let her daughter cheat from me which is unethical thing and immoral, but at the end I will pass in the English exam, or to ignore what she had said and fail in the English exam.

After long time of thinking, I decided to ignore what her mother told me because it is unethical and in Islam our religion doesn’t accept this kind of immorality. If I let her cheat from me I will be penalized in the hereafter and the mother and her daughter do not deserve to do unethical thing and to be penalized in the hereafter because of them.

In conclusion, I believed that I had chosen the right decision. If anyone was in my situation I suggest him or her not to hesitate doing what suits him or her ethically. Do the right thing according to the manners and fairness. In addition, I would recommend you to think carefully in these situations because no matter what decision you will make their bad sequence will absolutely affect on you.
