Nearpod


      Last week at the university, we learned about applications that serve teaching and learning and can be used by the teachers and students. One of these apps is Nearpod, so I thought it would be great if I share with you information about it.



Ø What is Nearpod?

Nearpod is an educational cross-platform application that convert or transform the experiences of teaching and learning through technology with relevant 21st-century skills and content. It is also transforming the students’ devices into a powerful learning tool.

 






Ø  Why Teachers Use it?

Because it allows them to create and share interactive lessons with their students.  It allows teachers to instantly collect and share answers submitted by the students. It allows them to track students’ comprehension in real time. Teachers can deliver their existing content through mobile (iOS or Android) devices and get instant feedback from students through interactive features like polls, quizzes, drawing activities, and others. Teachers can give the students code that it refers to the lesson “PowerPoint” and the students enter the application and download the lesson and do the activities if there are some.



Ø How it works? Student

The software provides tools for both students and teachers. Teachers can download multimedia lessons from the Nearpod content store or create their own. Lesson content can include previously created slides, embedded videos, audio, images, text, PDFs, Twitter streams, and virtual field trips. The teachers can create their own mobile presentation and engage the students. The teacher can create games , quizzes and assignment for the students after they finish the lesson. The students can search for the lessons and the lessons could be free or paid. The other thing about Nearpod that you can make an account either if you are a student or a teacher. You can use your google account, o

ffice account or your e-mail to sign up. It is very easy app to access and make your own lesson.





Ø Is it effective? why?

Yes, It is effective because it allows educators to very easily take their existing presentations, convert them into mobile-friendly content, and engage all students to convert them into active classroom participants. It gives every student a voice and Allow students to take ownership of their learning, for it increases students’ access to information, ideas, and interactions with Nearpod. Support and enhance their sense-making, which is central to the process of taking ownership of knowledge. It is effective for teachers because there is no longer excuses for students not to do their assignments and homework because the material is in the app and the student can access there easily. It is also effective for teachers because it give them the opportunity to use different materials and assessments to students that they have different learning styles. And it is effective for both students and teachers because it give them the opportunity to attend webinars and take the records of them.
